Commission Info

Step 1.

You need to have highly detailed photographs. These are best taken on a digital camera and not from a mobile phone or tablet which loses the detail making it difficult to create a true likeness.  I have information on my photography tips page on the best ways to achieve a good photograph for a portrait. You may already have some wonderful photos that would be perfect, or can easily take a few photographs with a little time and patience. If your intended portrait is a memorial, and you are unsure if any photos you have would be suitable please contact me, I will be only too happy to see them and advise you if I am able to create a portrait from them or not.

Step 2.

Decide what kind of size and type of portrait would suit your requirements by looking at my gallery and prices.

Step 3

Contact me to discuss your requirements. You can message me directly via the contacts page. Alternatively if you prefer,  you can contact me using the telephone, email or even postal address also listed on the contacts page.

Step 4

Once I have received your photographs I can do a mock-up of how your portrait would look if you are having two or more animals in the same portrait to ensure the size and scale in relation to each other are as you would like them to be in the final image.

Step 5

Once we have agreed your requirements I need to take a 30% non-refundable deposit to book your commission into my work schedule. If your commission is for a special day please let me know at the time of ordering. I work on a first come first served basis, so it usually a good idea to secure your commission well in advance of any special occasion, however depending on workload and time I may be able to do your portrait in time. If not, I have gift vouchers which can be sent in a beautiful presentation box wrapped up with ribbon.

Step 6

Once I have completed your painting I will email you some images for your approval. Any amendments or alterations that clients need can be done at this stage. This process ensures that clients are 100% happy before the portrait leaves my studio. When you approve the portrait, I will send you an invoice for the remaining amount of your portrait commission as well as postage and package costs. Once I have received this, I will package your portrait securely and send it to you. Please let me know that it has arrived safely; and if you have any images of the work either in situ or with your pet, I would love to see them! I know how special your animals are to you & take every measure to ensure you are happy with the portrait.


The deposit can be paid by clicking on the BUY button on my prices page, and selecting the size, number of subjects and media of your choice. You can then choose to pay via a Paypal account if you have one or use a credit/debit card by following the instructions on screen. Alternatively you can send a cheque to my postal address found on my contacts page. The final payment can be paid by clicking on the payment link on the email, or by cheque as above. Cheques need to be made out to Kate Rosten.
